Use the joystick.
Drag the joystick at the bottom left to move and aim. Keep holding to continue moving; return to the centre or release to stop.
The player’s guide / 01
Learn the timing, make room for your swing, and take the next point. Top Tennis gives you manual movement and shots, with keyboard controls on desktop and touch controls on mobile.
Need to look busy? Switch from the court to a mock spreadsheet with one key.
Busted Mode works in Single Game, Tournament matches, and Practice. It needs a keyboard and is not available in online matches. The sheet is for pretend work: it does not calculate formulas. Your entries stay when you switch back and forth, but a page reload clears them.
The court is your controller
Drag the joystick at the bottom left to move and aim. Keep holding to continue moving; return to the centre or release to stop.
Tap HIT at the bottom right to swing. Use it with your other thumb while moving. To serve, tap HIT to toss, wait for the ball to rise, then tap again near the top.
Double tap HIT during a return swing, before contact, for a power shot. In PRO and LEGEND, select LOB before HIT to prepare a lob; select it again to cancel.
Use the on-screen pause button for a break. A modern mobile browser with WebGL 2 and graphics acceleration is required; performance depends on your device.
A little repetition goes a long way
Practice mode feeds repeated high lobs so you can work on movement, smash timing, and power. Move under the ball, then press Space or tap before it reaches your hitting zone. Smashes count as successful only when they land in the opponent’s singles court. Net and out shots reset your streak; perfect contacts and best speed count only on successful smashes.
Choose from six courts: New York, London, Paris, the desert, the beach, and the Moon. The destination courts use hard-court play; the Moon keeps Earth gravity.
Open practice setupPRO is the tactical challenge in Single Game and Tournament. Use depth and angles to stretch the opponent, then watch its recovery. A difficult save can leave a weaker reply and space for your next shot. Change direction behind its movement, follow a deep ball with a drop, or lob a committed net approach. Vary your placement as it learns repeated patterns.
LEGEND takes this challenge further. Its CPU recovers faster and adapts more strongly to repeated shots. Elite opponents leave smaller openings and test your weaker wing. Build sustained pressure and prepare for a counterdrop or a recovery lob when you draw the CPU forward. Choose your finish carefully. Your player’s controls and shot rules stay the same; a lower-rated player makes the challenge harder.
On keyboard, hold C while aiming a normal or deep drive to leave more room inside the lines. Use this placement when adding power from an imperfect contact; release C for the full angle when the opportunity is clear. On touch, use a smaller sideways joystick movement for a similar placement choice.
Press R or tap LOB on mobile before your swing to prepare a lob; select it again to cancel. Aim left/right and swing with Space or HIT. The highlighted LOB button shows the selection. In PRO and LEGEND, drop-shot reliability depends on the player’s touch rating, and deep drives from within 4.8 m of the net go out. Use a neutral shot, a short shot, or a lob when appropriate.
Points progress through 0, 15, 30, and 40. At deuce, win two consecutive points to take the game.
First to 3 games, with a two-game lead. At 3–3, play a tiebreak to 7 points, again with a two-point lead. The tiebreak winner takes the match 4–3.
The same match format is used in the 32-player tournament. Win five matches in the knockout draw to take the title.
Point rules are the same at every difficulty. Your first bounce must land inside the opponent’s singles court; lines count as in. Once it lands in, a second bounce outside the lines still wins you the point. Net errors and first-bounce outs lose the point. A first serve fault gives you a second attempt; a double fault gives the receiver the point. Let serves are replayed without changing the score or serve number.
Top Tennis is free to play at toptennisgame.com. The game runs in your browser and requires no app download or account for computer matches, practice, or tournaments.
The game requires JavaScript, WebGL 2, and browser graphics acceleration. Update your browser, enable graphics acceleration if it is disabled, then reload. If your device cannot provide WebGL 2, try a different supported device. These guide pages can be read without the 3D renderer.
Movement and swings are manual. Get within reach, start your swing just before contact, and avoid relying on power when stretched or late. Use practice mode to learn the contact window.
Yes, the game includes touch controls for compatible mobile browsers. Use the bottom-left joystick to move and the bottom-right HIT button to swing. Browser and device support for WebGL 2 is still required.
After the game files are saved on your first visit, you can open and play single-player modes offline. Use Install Top Tennis, or the install option in your browser menu, to add the game to your home screen. Online features need an internet connection.
Open Multiplayer to invite a friend with a private match link or find an opponent online. Both players need an active internet connection.
