Tennis smash
practice.

Practise overhead shots with repeated high lobs. Move into position, time the swing yourself, and use the result of each attempt to make your next smash more consistent.

Set up an overhead drill.

  1. Open Practice.Choose your player and a court. The practice coach feeds repeated high lobs, giving you time to work on the same movement and contact.
  2. Move under the ball.Use WASD or the arrow keys on desktop. On mobile, move with the joystick at the bottom left. Start moving early so you can prepare before the ball drops into reach.
  3. Trigger the smash yourself.Press Space or tap HIT just before contact. The game selects the stroke from the ball’s height and position; getting under a lob does not swing the racket for you.
  4. Review the result, then repeat.Keep the first few attempts controlled. Once contact is consistent, add direction and power instead of changing everything at once.

Work on one part of the shot at a time.

01 / POSITION

Move before the drop.

Watch the ball’s path and get within reach early. Chasing a lob at the last moment leaves less time to choose your swing and target.

02 / CONTACT

Find the timing.

Start with a single Space press or HIT tap. Adjust when you swing on the next feed, and look for a clean overhead that lands inside the opponent’s singles court.

03 / POWER

Add a second input.

Press twice within 0.22 seconds and before contact, or hold Shift and press Space. On mobile, double tap HIT. A power shot needs enough energy, so first establish a reliable contact.

For the full movement, aiming, serving, and power instructions, read how to play Top Tennis. Practice focuses on overheads; use a single game to work on serve timing and groundstrokes during a match.

Understand the practice feedback.

Smashes
Successful smashes compared with completed attempts. A success must land inside the opponent’s singles court.
Streak
Consecutive successful smashes. A shot into the net or outside the court resets the streak.
Perfect
Perfect contacts count when the smash is also successful. A well-timed shot still needs to land in.
Best speed
The fastest successful smash in the drill, shown in km/h. An out or net shot does not set the best speed.

A longer in-court streak is a useful first target. Once you can repeat clean contact, use the speed readout to compare controlled power attempts.

Practice questions.

Can I choose a practice court?

Yes. Practice offers New York, London, Paris, Dubai Desert, Tropical Beach, and the Moon. The destination courts use hard-court play and Earth gravity. Read the court guide for the settings and mode availability.

Is practice a match against another player?

No. It is an overhead drill with a coach feeding high lobs. For a live match with a friend or another player, open Multiplayer.

Can I practise on mobile?

Yes, on a browser and device with WebGL 2 and graphics acceleration. Use the bottom-left joystick to move and the bottom-right HIT button to swing while moving.

Does the drill automatically hit the ball?

No. You control both movement and the swing. Get into position, then press Space or HIT before contact.
